I was blog stalking today and found this quote through a blog of a blog of a blog. I found it to be incredibly powerful.
"If I had my child to raise all over again, I'd build self-esteem first and a house later. I'd finger paint more and point the finger less. I would do less correcting and more connecting. I'd take my eyes off the watch and watch with my eyes. I'd take more hikes and fly more kites. I would stop playing serious and seriously play. I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars. I'd do more hugging and less tugging." Dian Lommas
How I strive to be a better parent and desire to be a better mother. This past weekend, I was looking at my son. He wasn't doing anything special, it was just an ordinary minute in time. I got teary eyed thinking of how my ex-husband doesn't get these everyday moments. I suddenly felt overwhelmingly bad, sad, guilty and mad all at the same time. I had to hide in the bathroom for a minute to have a quick cry and collect myself.

Thanks for the post. It is very insightful, and it is amazing at how many of those little things I take for granted and don't take the time to do with my children. The older they get the more you realize how little time you have left with them. As for the ex, just remember it was his choice that has kept him from those things. Nothing you did, stay strong, I think about you all the time, and hope all is well. Lots of love! Jen
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quote, I needed to hear that today. You're doing an incredible job as a mom and Kaden is lucky to have you. I'm sorry your ex is missing out on his son. You little man is very blessed to have such a wonderful mother and is going to grow up to be a great person.
ReplyDeleteGood quote! I got a littly teary myself. Just today I found this quote that made me stop and think. "Enjoy the little things in life for someday you will realize they were the big things." I often have to stop and remind myself to be present in the moment. I never regret it when I take the time to really look at my children and listen to them. With regards to your ex. He is the one missing out. It is his loss. Just enjoy Kaden while you can. I know you get that. Love ya.
